Of Village Idiots and Other Musings...
| bil-a-bong Nov 6, 06 - 6:00 PM | Of Village Idiots and Other Musings... There is perhaps nothing worse in the Lost Universe that idiot Trolls! Too bad we cannot teleport Mr. Horse to another planet... (or at least another board!) And of other musings, a Board without a leader is like peanut butter w/o jelly... ...or soccer w/o a ball ....or the prom w/o a date ......or a book club w/o the book ........or a latte w/o milk GB, you are missed! |
| Lady-in-Gray Nov 6th, 2006 - 6:51 PM | Bil: I guess our leader has moved on without us ... ![]() It seems that ignoring the "Horse in The Room" hasn't worked yet. He just carries on a conversation with his other personalities ... I guess our Collective Consciousness isn't strong enough to will him away! |
| qt Nov 6th, 2006 - 10:57 PM | I HOPE our fearless leader hasn't moved on! I think he's gotta be super-busy getting his bookstore up and running. ![]() Even though he'll have mucho customers there's got to be a lull every once in a while, right? ![]() Maybe he can fit us in now and then. ![]() We miss you GB!!! |
| wesb Nov 7th, 2006 - 5:29 AM | People like horse thrive on being able to get in the way. So when he's enough of a nuisance that people post something like, "All right, I'm leaving until later," he gets his jollies. He's made an impresion. I think the best thing to do is to just keep up the discussion, point out the posts that are forgeries in our names, and totally ignore him, other than short references AMONG OURSELVES ONLY that there are silly children present. The shorter the references the better; it shows him that we're not affected. They should also not be insulting; insults show him he's "made a difference" by annoying us. The reason he stays is that we give him a reason to stay. The less reaction he gets from us, the sooner he'll move on to some other board that gives him more reaction. I feel that the only time we should even acknowlege their presence is when they bombard the board with so much noise that discussion is impossible. That's called a "denial of service attack," and there's no real defense other than to wait it out. When that happens, it's best to post a message stating something like, "we may as well wait until the kids stop bombarding us with noise. see you all in a little while." That says that they won't stop us, and that we can outwait them, which we can. In fact, after posting a message like that, they're usually gone within minutes; without an audience, they get no jollies. Yes, they do get some little "victory" at being able to make us stop, but it's a very small one when the withdrawal is done without showing any annoyance. All in all, you've gotta feel some pity for these kids who feel so insignificant that the only way they can make an impression is to get in other people's way. If we think of that before posting an angry response, they'll be gone sooner. |
| LOSTbean Nov 7th, 2006 - 5:41 AM | with any luck, over the hiatus, horse will head out to pasture. hold your tongues until then! |
| Lady-in-Gray Nov 7th, 2006 - 6:40 AM | Beaner: I'm pretty sure that Question is Horse using another name.... |
| LOSTbean Nov 7th, 2006 - 6:49 AM | lady-i came over here to warn everyone else of the same thing! PLEASE no one respond to "question's" assinine assumptions! |
| Lady-in-Gray Nov 7th, 2006 - 10:52 AM | I just have to vent somewhere! ![]() Horse, his aliases and ID thefts are really getting on my nerves. I just can't believe that Roseman's post about smoking pot(j's) was really his. I keep waiting for him to deny it but maybe he didn't see it.... I gotta go for a walk! |
| LOSTbean Nov 7th, 2006 - 11:27 AM | maybe, each time we take a break from the board, we have to cyber sign off (letting people know we are leaving). and, when we return, we have a disclaimer that any posts made during the time we said we left and now were made using our name when it wasn't us. |
| Lady-in-Gray Nov 7th, 2006 - 12:30 PM | Beaner: I could live with him and his alter egos. It's his ID theft that really, really irks me! He could easily just "sign" us back in. I'm thinking he has way too much staying power for a kid. Besides, why isn't he in school? I feel like this is someone older than 16 with serious maturity and boredom issues. I also think that this is the same person who was doing all of the Boston Legal characters a few weeks ago! He seems to watch a LOT of TV, too. Anyway, he's making me suspicious of everyone's posts and that's spoiling my fun! |
Greybishop Nov 7th, 2006 - 1:24 PM | Sorry I've been away! Sounds like we need D.S. more than me. Anyhow, another day or two and my store will FINALLY be open! Way more work than I anticipated. Once I'm settled, I promise I'll be around more. Take care all! |
| LOSTbean Nov 7th, 2006 - 1:48 PM | GB-great stuff! focus on your store...we will happily welcome you back when you have time! what's the web page of your new store again? i know it's real obvious, but i forgot it. lady-i hear you on not knowing when i am me or when horse's a** is me...so far, i don't think he's tried to be me. he is SO annoying tho. i don't think it's a kid either. just an annoying adult with too much time. |
| Lady-in-Gray Nov 7th, 2006 - 2:13 PM | Beaner: GB's site is greybishop.com GB: Projects ALWAYS take longer than planned.... Keep plugging away. You'll get there. Good luck to ya! |
| LOSTbean Nov 7th, 2006 - 2:25 PM | Lady-i thought GB's bookstore had it's own website???? |
| Lady-in-Gray Nov 7th, 2006 - 2:55 PM | Beaner: It does and that's it. Type it in and see what you get. |
| LOSTbean Nov 7th, 2006 - 3:02 PM | oh! lady! i get it! i was thinking that was the address for his blog site (i just use my shortcut-i never pay attention to the actual address). THANKS!!!!! |
| bil-a-bong Nov 7th, 2006 - 5:03 PM | ![]() well, he took my moniker also! |
| Lady-in-Gray Nov 7th, 2006 - 5:33 PM | Bil: He's just sucking the fun out of our board chats, isn't he! We better be very careful not to give out GB's Blog address to anyone anymore cuz I wouldn't want to see him over here! |
| JDH Nov 8th, 2006 - 7:46 PM | After Horse was on the EW board, I had a really hard time knowing if someone (serious poster) was who they said they were. It was very frustrating. And I felt bad for cclost. But probably worst was not knowing if he posted using my name. I hope nothing was said that was offending (under my name), if so please know it wasn't me. And I agree, do not post this website's address over at EW. |
| wesb Nov 9th, 2006 - 5:38 AM | I'm gonna look at the bright side... next time I post something stupid, I'm gonna blame it on horsie!!! |

I guess our Collective Consciousness isn't strong enough to will him away!
I think he's gotta be super-busy getting his bookstore up and running.
there's got to be a lull every once in a while, right?
