LOST 3:4
| LOSTbean Oct 26, 06 - 6:23 AM | LOST 3:4 ok, so here are some of my thoughts based on last night's show... 1. i thought jack's and juliette's convo re. who is in charge/makes the decisions between her and benry was a nice reflection of when benry and locke had that same convo back in the hatch. clever. 2. a 2nd island. wow! now, is wysteria lane on the same island as the LOSTies, or is it on the island where kate, jack, and sawyer are being held (because that makes it harder to believe that ethan and goodwin got to the wreckage so quickly if they had to island jump)? 3. i now think, with 2 islands, there are 2 sets of others...benry's others and then the bare-footed, tattered safari-esque clothed others that stole people from the tailies' campsite. 4. ok, what is dez's lightning rod about (and why must he be fully clothed now-bummer)? 5. please, please, please don't tell me this show is going down the path of aliens (referring to previews for next week)? 6. still have no clue who the new boy and girl are they introduced last week when eko was brought back to camp. well, we know the guy plays golf...that's about it. 7. juliette a fertility doc. makes perfect sense since we know how important children are to the others (maybe both sets of others???? unsure on that). she and jack are SO playing each other to get what they want. i probably could go on and on, but these stick out in my brain first and foremost. feedback? thoughts? rants? |
| Prettyeyes Oct 26th, 2006 - 8:30 AM | I'm with you LB about the alien bit that would be a bummer... I think I had mentioned a couple of days ago there were 2 islands but a little farther away. this is where I think Benry sent Walt and Michael. Juliette being a fertility doc....WOW do you think there is a connection there with Sun's baby. I think the x-rays could be Ben's...I would not be surprised if he was the one to die b4 the break. |
| Prettyeyes Oct 26th, 2006 - 8:40 AM | AND another thing.....what was with the pacemaker bit.I mean WHAT THE HECK........I knew that had to be a fake when they ran to Jack with the gunshot victim I'm thinking well who the heck just did the heart surgery |
| wesb Oct 26th, 2006 - 8:46 AM | I thought that the rabbit, in a cage, with a blue number 8 painted on it's back was hilarious! It's a very obscure Steven King reference (yet another King reference!) But this one was thrown in almost as a joke, to see if anyone would notice. When I first saw it I felt this really weird deja vu feeling; I know this from somewhere... but then when I realized what they were doing, I almost fell over. It's especially funny because it's not from one of King's stories but from his book on writing. The image is something you're supposed to visualize, then he points out how different readers will visualize it differently. The irony there is that while that's true for written fiction, it's irrelevant on television, where we all see the same thing. The writers were really playful/drunk/tired when they threw that one in... |
| LOSTbean Oct 26th, 2006 - 10:04 AM | a coworker told me dez built that "lightning" tower because with his ability to see into the future, the lightning would have struck the roof of claire's "hut," and so he wanted to divert it away from her. anyone else hear that? |
| wesb Oct 26th, 2006 - 12:41 PM | That was the impression I got from the story. He seems to have at least some limited ability to see what's going to happen. What's more interesting; he has some limited ability to _change_ what's going to happen... |
| Prettyeyes Oct 26th, 2006 - 2:35 PM | Dez did ask Claire to move her camp down the beach a bit but she declined because she had just put Aaron to sleep and did not want to wake him. |
| Lady-in-Gray Oct 26th, 2006 - 7:19 PM | Gee, Beaner, where do I begin. I think Ben is still conning Sawyer. I think that everyone is still on the same island. I don't care much for our new Lostie. One would think that a guy with his attitude would have been seen and heard from long before now! Maybe even slapped around a bit! If there is another set of Others, I don't think we've seen them yet. Did you notice the Dharma logo on Juliette's scrubs? |
| LOSTbean Oct 27th, 2006 - 5:41 AM | lady-i believe anyone could be conning anyone else at any time (that's how this show seems to be going)! but, if there really is only one island, how did ben make it look like 2? |
| Prettyeyes Oct 27th, 2006 - 5:56 AM | I still think that there's another whole island not too far from this one..... perhaps this is where the children are... it seem strange to me that these OTHERS people are coupled off into marriages and you still see no children... and they are into kidnapping other children> I think there's more to that story. |
| wesb Oct 27th, 2006 - 6:46 AM | When Ben sent Ethan and Goodwin to spy on the crash victims, he said he wanted a list of names in 3 days, and not to get involved. That seems pretty clear to me that they weren't to interfere. Yet Ana Lucia said the tailies were attacked the first night. This makes it pretty clear to me that there are two separate groups operating. The fact that Goodwin told AL that the children were "better off" where they were tells me that Ben-and-company aren't blind to what the "other Others" are doing. The scene with the line of bare feet walking through the jungle, including the child, suggests the "savage" others, who have the kids. The fact that the "civilized" others dressed like the savages suggests that they knew that Our Heroes would eventually run into the savages, and they wanted Our Heroes to think there was only one group, and not try to locate the civilized group. (There were probably already too many people in the Book Club to keep on-topic, and if Sawyer were to join, well, there would just be pandemonium... ;-) |
| Lady-in-Gray Oct 27th, 2006 - 7:46 AM | Beaner, you know I'm not a techno !If the island truly is in a bottle, it could have been a reflection of itself off of the inside of the bottle. Or an image could have been projected from that pole on the cliff with Ben and Sawyer. Or any other of a number of ways. Or there really could be more than one island... I just don't believe that our Lostie camp is on it. |
| LOSTbean Oct 27th, 2006 - 8:41 AM | oooo-good stuff lady. island in a mirrored bottle! i did wonder what that pole thingy was-good catch! |
| Jess Oct 27th, 2006 - 5:09 PM | Geez, I didn't even NOTICE a pole! I'm surprised you guys still let me come here with my lack of attention to detail. I would miss soooo much if it weren't for the insight I gain from this site! When I get off of here, I'm going to watch the whole episode again. My thoughts about the two islands: I think there is one island, and Benry somehow made it look like there was another. I like the projection idea. Regarding the two sets of Others, maybe the Savages are a splinter group who was exiled from the original group of Others. Why hasn't Rousseau ever seen any Others? She's supposedly been there for 16 years. Our Losties have been there only a few months, and they've already been kidnapped! Gotta go watch the show..... |
| Lady-in-Gray Oct 27th, 2006 - 7:58 PM | Jess: I can't take credit for noticing the pole. Someone mentioned it on the EW Board. Don't forget that Danielle's daughter, Alex, was kidnapped by the Others so I'm pretty sure she has seen them. |
| Jess Oct 28th, 2006 - 11:37 AM | I don't think Rousseau has seen the Others. When she first met Sayid and was talking about the whispers, he asked, "Have you seen other people on this island?" She replied, "I hear them." I took that to mean that she heard them but never saw them. Maybe I assumed too much. |
Greybishop Oct 28th, 2006 - 8:17 PM | I'm soooo not surprised. Jack's there for a reason. Wanna bet so is just about every one of the "main" Lostaways? Lady! Mirrored island! I never thought of that! Awesome. I actually think it's a real island (Thus the need for the ferry and the dock) but if you're right... I still say Des is Merlin. Precognition, and just this tranquillity about him make me think down those lines. I know, I know, that's just too far-fetched. Sawyer's daughter? My bet? What's her name is pulling the con on the con man. Wasn't that what the whole episode was about? Con man gets conned while conning the con man...So many cons... |
| Prettyeyes Oct 29th, 2006 - 7:41 PM | was on the hansoadoptions.org site... the baby pictured there kinda reminded me of the one that is suppose to be Sawyers kid......any thoughts any one? |
