So much for my big plans...

Sep 10, 06 - 7:46 PM So much for my big plans...

I had this plan to get my apartment 100% completed this weekend. I wanted to finally be done with it because it's already too far overdue. But on Friday, I had the bad luck to cut myself on some metal sheeting while helping my boss out with a side project at one of his rental properties. That meant it was tetanus shot time, since the last time I had one was when I was around 8. My arm is killing me and now my back and neck are aching pretty badly too. I have a horrible headache and spent most of this weekend lying on the couch with a bucket beside me because I felt so nauseated. Has anyone else ever had such a nasty reaction to this shot?

Not I.
Of course, when I cut myself I just treat it with beer.
And snacks.

Sorry to hear you don't feel well, sweetie. Did the cut require stitches? Are we to presume you were able to avoid jury duty? I don't recall hearing...Hope you feel better soon.

Okay, so I slept with a heating pad last night and I feel a little bit better this morning. I still can barely move my arm, but the rest of me doesn't hurt nearly as bad. No, I didn't need stitches for the cut. It was pretty small, but it was bleeding. I had dinner at my aunt's house and she's a nurse, so I was talked into the tetanus shot.

As for jury duty, DS is correct is assuming I got out of it. I actually was selected for a trial that was only going to last for one or two days, which I could have easily done, so I was actually kind of excited about it. The prosecution was satisfied with the jury, but then the defense attorney used one of his preemptory challenges on me! And I will never know why I was dismissed. I can only assume, and I assume it was because I was a) young and b) looked professional (I was one of the few people who dressed up for jury duty). The defendent looked like a hillbilly (which would not have influenced my decision, it's just a statement of fact), so I think I looked like I wouldn't sympathize with him. Then I didn't end up having to go to jury selection for any other cases. And now I anxiously await my check for about $28 to arrive for my day spent serving my civic duty.

owie, monica! was the shot like a vaccination where they introduce a small amount of the "disease" and let your body develop antibodies to it? i am glad, however, you are feeling better. maybe you could use your dr. jack massage gift certificate and get some of those aches worked out! (wink!)
