For those interested in reading "Bred in the Bone"
| Greybishop Sep 5, 06 - 9:13 AM | For those interested in reading "Bred in the Bone" I just got confirmation from "Melissa" at the 3 day novel contest that its OK to e-mail the file to my individual friends. They don't consider that to be publishing. If you want to read it, send a self-addressed stamped e-mail to "greybishop1@yahoo.ca" so I can e-mail you the file. It's a word doc, so you gotta have Microsoft Word! |
| LOSTbean Sep 5th, 2006 - 9:25 AM | how much is international cyber postage on a documet of that size and weight? |
| Lady-in-Gray Sep 5th, 2006 - 10:26 AM | Sorry, GB, no MSWord on my computer anymore. When my hard drive was replaced last week, I didn't have it re-installed because I never knew how to use it in the first place. I do have Adobe Reader though... |
| LOSTbean Sep 5th, 2006 - 10:30 AM | LIG and GB-no worries! GB send it to me in Word and i can scan/pdf it to LIG! problem solved! |
| Lady-in-Gray Sep 5th, 2006 - 10:38 AM | What a deal! Thanks, LB! |
| Jess Sep 5th, 2006 - 11:38 AM | I, for one, could use a good read about now. And even though I will be thinking of my beloved Harry Potter the whole time your hero is killing wizards, I would LOVE to read your book. You already have my e-mail, but I'll send it again. Can't wait! |
| Greybishop Sep 5th, 2006 - 11:57 AM | LB's PDF idea got me thinking. I'll d/l a pdf-er program tonight and send it out as a pdf instead. Most everybody has adobe acrobat and you can't accidentally erase a part of a pdf file... And, Jess, don't worry. When you meet my Wizards, you won't be thinking of HP or Hermione , I promise! |
| Greybishop Sep 5th, 2006 - 12:11 PM | I also must express my surprise at the fact that all you ladies have any interest in my swords and sorcery creation.Don't get me wrong, I'm thrilled at the interest but I always just assumed that books with characters whose resumes include Mage Slayer experience would normally only appeal to a more masculine audience.I'm always happy to be proven wrong! ![]() Make sure you send me your e-mail addy's and I'll fire off some pdfs tonight when I get home. |
| LOSTbean Sep 5th, 2006 - 1:10 PM | hey GB! if this novel were a movie, what kind of rating would you give it? i ask because my niece is 16 and is a wizard/sorcery ADDICT, and if the content doesn't need to be , i'd shoot a copy to her! she, like a lot of 16 yr. olds, is on over . |
| Lady-in-Gray Sep 5th, 2006 - 1:32 PM | Darn it, GB! You caught me!You are right, I'm not into Wizards (not even Harry Potter!). ![]() I am looking at this as reading YOUR novel rather than as reading a novel about Wizards. Does that make sense? ![]() Btw, since you wouldn't let me adopt you, I decided to adopt this cute little guy instead. I hope you don't mind. |
| Greybishop Sep 5th, 2006 - 1:41 PM | LB- Some blood 'n' guts (Swords and sorcery usually can't avoid a little bloody mayhem...). Some infered but very "adult" content. ![]() There might have been some breasts... ![]() I'd say PG13 but read it first before passing it along, 'cuz I don't want to corrupt that niece of yours! |
| Greybishop Sep 5th, 2006 - 1:51 PM | Fine with me on both counts! I dig the bouncy dude too, but I identify with this guy... |
Greybishop Sep 5th, 2006 - 7:04 PM | I think y'all are getting the wrong idea, since I keep seeing "Harry Potter" popping up whenever the word "Wizard" is mentioned. I come at writing from a place where Wizards are adults with adult ideas and desires, and while I like H.P. on an escapist level, what I write is DEFINATELY not rated G or even PG. Bred in the Bone ended up pretty tame, since I didn't know my audience (The judges) and figured better safe than sorry. Just remember that "Mark of the one opens on the hero getting out of bed after a night of "Pay for play" with a "tavern girl" and you might get the idea of where my fantasy novels are gonna go... Definately not your kids Wizards... |
| Lady-in-Gray Sep 5th, 2006 - 8:08 PM | Maybe that's because Harry Potter (and Merlin) are the only s we've ever heard of..... |
Greybishop Sep 5th, 2006 - 8:22 PM | L-i-G wrote: " Maybe that's because Harry Potter (and Merlin) are the only s we've ever heard of....."I forget that not everybody grew up reading Conan novels and thinking that Dungeons and Dragons was the greatest game ever invented ![]() Wizards in my literary experience are either: Wize old mentor types that can still burn an enemy to a crisp or rend them limb from limb if the need arises or; Nasty, not so old types that just enjoy burning folks to a crisp or rending them limb from limb in new and creative ways, just for the fun of it... Trust me, the Wizards and heroes of the worlds I write about would send H.P. back to Hogwarts to hide behind Hermione's skirt...That's if they didn't use parts of him as spell ingredients... |
| Monica Sep 6th, 2006 - 5:51 AM | GB - I'm with L-i-G on this. I'm not usually into anything with wizards and sorcery, but because YOU wrote it, I would love to read it. Big congrats and much respect on the completion of the 3-day novel. |
I do have Adobe Reader though...
Thanks, LB!
