I have a new section of the blog where I've put up several of my favourite fan films that I've seen on the net over the last few years. If you aren't a fan of comic books, so far there isn't anything else there, so it won't be of much interest. However. If you are at all interested in comic books or amateur film there are some very cool little movies out there and I've put together a selection of some of the best. They must be budding film students and on their way to enormous careers. Some of the production values are extremely high for 'no budget'. Are they independantly wealthy or plowing their savings into a impressive portfolio piece/resume to springboard into a 'paying' job? |
| Greybishop Oct 2nd, 2006 - 6:51 AM | Re: Calling all comic book geeks! Well, for instance, the guy who directs (and stars in) "Grayson" has done a bunch of "Fan" and "Amateur" film on the web. John Fiorella. One of his I didn't post was "Batman-Dead End" which is also quite impressive. What I like is not so much the actual films as the idea that someone who LOVES these characters puts their vision on film. Too often Hollywood loses the greatness of the characters or story by burying it in big budget effects and a name director (Superman Returns comes to mind) and gambling that they won't alienate true fans TOO much. |
