Re: LOST-season 2 dvd's

I hate to toot their horn, but I've always found that Wal-Mart has the best DVD prices around. When I was collecting Star Trek seasons, everyone was selling at $125-$155 while Walmart had them for $118.
That's Canadian, but I'm sure the same holds true in the States.

Careful about buying from Wal-Mart. They edit for adult content. I was going to buy Band of Brothers from them, but they edit out the language and excessive violence. Hello, it's a movie about World War II. There's violence.

The ABC website Lost merchandise is selling it for $43.90.

Jas 65 -
Really? I've never noticed that. Of course, I usually only buy DVD boxed sets there and those are the ones like Star Trek, from TV, so it's unlikely that ANYONE would feel the need to edit for content. How can they edit a studio release of a DVD? I can't imagine that producers would be too happy about someone editing their product just to satisfy Walmart's sensibilities.
Do they label the edited versions? I'd be interested to know.
Man, I hate censorship. #$%##@ing Walmart!

Re: LOST-season 2 dvd's

I've heard of Wal-Mart doing that also... but I've bought DVD's there at least once where I was asked to show ID for age..... but I also got DVDs there just the same with no problem... I also remember awhile back that maybe there where colplaints about that policy so gave you a choice You could get the original or edited versions (but that was with CD sales) I'm with GB...I can't see producers allowing that.

Re: LOST-season 2 dvd's

I buy MOST of my DVD's at WalMart, and have yet to encounter that problem. As for the CD's, I HAVE unkowingly bought a few that were edited. They weren't explicit enough to warrant a parental sticker, and thus a version marked "edited," but the minute bit of swearing was censored. I wasn't aware they had anything OTHER than edited CD's. Because of this, unless I'm almost positive there is NO swearing what so ever (like Dave Matthews, the Beatles, stuff like that), I REFUSE to buy CD's there.
Interesting contradiction, though. Bought "God of War," there last night, which is one of the most brutal games I've ever seen, not to mention showing topless women (it would STILL be one of the coolest games EVER without those things, but they don't hurt), and I bought it without any problem whatsoever.

Re: LOST-season 2 dvd's

I too have bought CD's from wally world that were censored, but weren't marked as being such. When I asked about Band of Brothers, the box wasn't marked but I was told it was edited. So I don't bother with the DVD's at all from there.

There are some law suits going on right now by the studios to fight the companies that edit films, but it does go on.

Re: LOST-season 2 dvd's

I usually buy DVD's at Wal-Mart. I didn't know movies were edited but I did know about them only selling edited music cd's. I try to go there and buy any new release the first few days after it's released because it is usually $4-5 cheaper. They tend to raise the price by the weekend after it's released.

Re: LOST-season 2 dvd's

well, the way i see it, there's not much to edit in LOST to remove inappropriate content from season 2 . now, i have thoroughly confused season 1 and 2 between watching reruns of season 2 this summer and reading GB's (awesome) season one recaps. but, to the best of my knowledge, we don't see much of anyone getting "caught in a net" except when ana lucia got sawyer's gun. and, not much violence happens except when michael shoots ana lucia and libby, or when sayid pummels un-henry. can anyone else think of something that needed to be edited out, possibly?

Re: LOST-season 2 dvd's

LB - I'm sure that Lost is free from censorship. I agree there is probably not much there that would need to be edited.

Quite frankly, I'm actually thinking of getting it there myself. It is cheaper and I can't think of anythin that could need to be censored from it so I'm sure it's safe.

Who knows if they really edit the DVD's. But I've gone to buy things and they always tell me they do.

Re: LOST-season 2 dvd's

I usually buy all my DVDs at Best Buy. I have their reward card, so I get some money back on what I spend. However, I would still go there even if I didn't get the rewards because they always have a great sale price when the item first comes out and they always have a good quantity (unlike Target - my second choice for entertainment purchases and my favorite store EVER! - they always seem to sell out of what I want if I don't get there on the first day). My wallet is hurting big time this month. I just bought the second season of House, and I am planning to buy Lost Season Two, Grey's Anatomy Season Two, and King of Queens Season Six, which all come out in September. OUCH!
